Bio

Tara Milutis is an American filmmaker whose background is in Fine Arts and Drama. She studied painting in London before entering the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where she received a BFA in Drama in conjunction with the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting. Since graduating she has worked both as a director and actress in film, theatre and television, working for some of the leading advertising agencies, television networks and production companies throughout the world.
As a filmmaker she is interested in cultural identities; the diversity that defines us as well as the common threads that join us all. In her early work she found her cultural studies and narrative stories in the diverse Lower East Side of Manhattan, while at present her filmmaking has evolved to a more global scope. She has lived, worked and traveled extensively all over Asia, and has recently completed her first feature-length documentary entitled "Vietnamese Girl", a film on the challenges facing Vietnamese women in the new global era, and the ties that bind us all. She has also started a charity called Burma Border Aid that helps refugees at the Thai-Burmese border. She is based out of Bangkok.
